New Pond Farm is home to a small herd of dairy cows. During your late fall and winter visits to the farm, you will be able to enjoy all the animals by spending time in and around the barns. Even the sheep are spending the winter months in the barnyard this year. If you visit in the late spring or summer, the cows will be out in the grassy pastures from late afternoon to early morning and in the barn during the day.
The Dairy Annex (next to the Milking Barn) offers milk and yogurt for sale - enjoy! The milk and yogurt is pasteurized right here at NPF, using the milk from our dairy cows.
NPF is currently home to five different dairy breeds.

| Ayrshire
Originally from Scotland, these animals are well adapted to rocky farms and harsh winters. They are known for their production longevity.
Our Ayrshire cow is white with dark red spots, and her name is Savannah.
|
Brown Swiss Originally from Switzerland, they produce large quantities of milk, close behind the Holsteins. They are also known for their dual use in dairy and beef. Our Brown Swiss cow is brownish-grey and is named Aspen.
| Holstein
Originally from the Netherlands, these black and white cows are commonly used on large dairy farms due to their ability to produce more milk each day than any other breed.
Our Holstein cow is named Belle.
| Jersey They are originally from Britain's Isle of Jersey, close to the Isle of Guernsey. Jerseys are small in size, but produce milk containing the highest butterfat of any other milking breed. Our Jersey cows are honey brown and are named Lindsey, Lucky, Heather, and Angela. |
