New Pond Farm is proud to offer educational birthday parties. The programs topics offered vary by season. All of our programs are hands-on and active, keeping your child and his or her guests involved throughout the program. Parties are available for children turning four and up and the program will be adapted to suit the age group of your guests.
Topics include:
Farmer for the Day (year round)
A round of light chores including hand feeding the calves and sheep, bringing a cow into the barn for a closer look and feeding our small flock of chickens and collecting their eggs. A beeswax candle craft can be added to this program for an additional $1.50/child.
Native American Program (year round)
We will take a walk down to our authentic encampment, complete with a thatched long house and a bark wigwam that the guests can visit. We will learn how the tribes of this area built shelter, grew and prepared food, hunted, made clothing and some of the games the children would play. A clay pinch pot or dream catcher craft can be added to the program for an additional $1.50/child.
Maple Syruping (mid Febuary - mid March
Your child and guests will participate in each step required to transform sugar maple sap into sweet maple syrup. We will ID and tap and maple, learn the Native American ways of sugaring, visit the sugar shed to watch the evaporator at work, and taste a few maple products.
Freshwater Exploration (May - June)
We will use nets and buckets to see who is living in the marsh. We will carefully collect and ID a wide variety of aquatic life including frogs, fish, newts and aquatic insects. All specimens will be released at the end of the program.
Reptiles and Amphibians (year round)
We will meet a variety of our captive reptiles. Children will get a close look at turtles, lizards, snakes and more. This is also our rainy day alternative program.

All types of parties

Birthday parties are offered after-school during the week, as well as Saturdays and Sundays, September through June. Parties are not available in July and August due to our residential summer camp.
All programs are 60 minutes in length, followed by 30 minutes for your party.
Parties are available to Family Members of the farm and are $10/guest with a $100 minimum and a 20 child maximum.
